Espresso gear, ranked against a rubric you can actually read.
Most "best of" pages will not tell you how they decided. We publish the five criteria, the weights, and where the evidence comes from — so you can disagree with our conclusion on specifics instead of just trusting us.
Start with a ranking
Four categories, five picks each, scored the same way every time.
Buying for someone else
Black Friday falls on 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday on 30 November. Espresso equipment discounts harder in that window than anywhere else in the year — worth knowing before you buy in October.
How we reach a conclusion
The full version is on the methodology page, including what this approach cannot tell you.
Published rubric
Five weighted criteria, fixed and published before anything is scored against them. You can see the weights and disagree with them.
Documented evidence
Specifications read from manufacturer documentation, not retailer listings — which are frequently stale or describe a superseded revision.
No paid placement
No sponsored slots, no payment for inclusion or position, and no manufacturer sees a page before you do.
Stated limits
Where a score comes from documented design rather than time with the product, we say so on the page instead of implying otherwise.
Two things you will notice about this site
There are no prices. Prices on this equipment move constantly and discount heavily in Q4, and a stale number is worse than no number. We show a four-step price band for planning and link out so you see the real current figure at the retailer.
There are no star ratings borrowed from retailers. An averaged star rating tells you very little about whether a machine suits you, and republishing retailer review data is not something we are permitted to do anyway. Our score comes from a rubric you can read.
